Teachers for Christ is a new in-residence program developed by the Augustine Institute in partnership with the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education (ICLE). The two-year program forms future Catholic school teachers of all subject areas so that they are ready to place the best practices of Catholic liberal education at the service of the temporal and eternal good of the whole human person. Students earn a Master’s degree in Catholic Education along with a credential from the ICLE’s groundbreaking national alternative to state teacher licensure. The first cohort of 12 aspiring educators begins classes on June 9 at the Augustine Institute’s new state-of-the-art facility outside St. Louis.
Jeffrey S. Lehman is Professor of Philosophy and Theology as well as the designer and director of the M.A. in Catholic Education program at the Augustine Institute Graduate School of Theology. Prior to coming to the Augustine Institute, he served on the teaching faculty of Biola University, Thomas Aquinas College, Hillsdale College, and the University of Dallas; he also developed curriculum for the undergraduate Classical Education Program at Hillsdale College and for the graduate Classical Education Program at the University of Dallas, both of which programs grew substantially under his guidance and influence. He has published essays and books on a wide array of authors and texts, including two monographs, “Augustine: Rejoicing in the Truth” and “Socratic Conversation: Bringing the Dialogues of Plato and the Socratic Tradition into Today’s Classroom.”
Dr. Lehman resides with his wife and children in Saint Charles, Missouri.
