The Holiness of Work

A 7-day journey of prayer and meditation on consecrating your daily labor to the Lord

"By enduring the toil of work in union with Christ crucified for us, man in a way collaborates with the Son of God for the redemption of humanity. He shows himself a true disciple of Christ by carrying the cross in his turn every day in the activity that he is called upon to perform.”

St. John Paul II, Laborem Exercens

Our culture today often views work as at best a means to getting wealth and power, but more generally as inhuman burden. The vision of Scripture and the Church could not be more different. As expressed by St. John Paul II, work is essential to human dignity and man’s dominion over God’s creation. Even more profoundly, when we embrace our daily crosses and tasks with love, then work actually becomes a means of conforming ourselves to the Paschal Mystery of Christ

This May, join us on Amen for The Holiness of Work. This 7 day prayer journey will give you insights and prayers drawn from Scripture, St. John Paul II, Pope Francis, and Dorothy Sayers, to help you grow in holiness in your work, accompanying the Trinity at work in creation, Jesus and St. Joseph at work in Nazareth, and St. Paul in the work of evangelization.

These daily prayers and meditations will explore the dignity of work, how we can unite our work to the Persons of the Trinity, and ways we can recollect ourselves in the face of our daily struggles.
